EASTMAN-KINGSPORT FASTPITCH SOFTBALL INVITATIONAL

The Kingsport/Eastman Invitational began in 1997 as a project to introduce a higher quality of softball competition to the Kingsport area.  The tournament had sixteen teams the first year, and has grown each year both in quality and in number of teams.
The basic concept behind the tournament is to provide teams with excellent competition, a safe environment, a weekend of enjoyable relationships, and a tournament in which most of the receipts go into making the tournament more enjoyable. This is accomplished by providing a meal for the players and coaches on Friday night, by providing the game balls to cut expenses for the visiting teams, by guaranteeing four games for all teams with weather permitting, and by attempting to be the most cordial hosts possible.  Since the inception, the tournament has added a Thursday date that also provides an evening meal for players and coaches.  All games are under the supervision of a three-man umpiring crew. The reputation of this tournament has grown to the extent that teams which travel to various tournaments begin asking the dates of the next year's tournament a year in advance so they can plan their travels around the Kingsport dates.
The playing facilities are located only five miles from Interstate #81. The tournament uses fields at three different sites: Brickyard Park, Domtar Park, and Indian Highland Park, totaling eight fields. Both Domtar Park and Indian Highland Park are within four miles of the Brickyard Park. The field at Indian Highland Park has a permanent outfield fence measuring 200 feet, and at Brickyard and Domtar Park a 200 feet temporary fence is used. Concessions are sold at all three locations for the convenience of the spectators and players, plus there are several fast food restaurants and regular restaurants located within minutes of each of the playing facilities.  Several motels are also within minutes of the fields, with very competitive rates, including the host hotel, Meadowview Marriott Convention Center. The Kingsport Convention and Visitors Bureau is always willing to answer questions one may have regarding the various entertainment areas in the entire region, and they may be reached at 423-392-8820.
